Searching for your next NYC family photo session location? Consider the High Line.
The High Line is one of NYC’s coolest spots to visit for its unique city views and history. It is also a perfect place for a photo session. Early morning is an ideal time for a photo session since there are hardly any people or crowds. The High Line stretches from Gansevoort St to 34th Street right at Hudson Yards and another NYC tourist attraction, the Vessel. It is definitely worth checking out.
My favorite stretch of the High Line is from 14th street to 23rd street. There is elevator access at each of these entrances which is great if you need to take stroller. I usually don’t recommend a stroller on the High Line but if you are there in the early morning, it shouldn’t be a problem. For young families, a stroller is nice to carry around any essential items you need during the photo session.
In this stretch, you will get a lot of variety in scenery, architecture and views. The paths are also a bit wider in this area. As you go head up to 34th street, I find there are less scenic views and there are less pockets to get away from crowds.
If you love to have a wide variety of backdrops in your family photo session, the High Line is a great choice. Just note that a permit is needed but the application is free. This information can be found on their website along with photo guidelines.
